Kurt O’Brien Foundation
Kurt O’Brien, CEO of OB Companies and Simply Self Storage founded the Kurt O’Brien Foundation (KOBF) for the education and awareness of testicular cancer prevention as well as the importance of early detection for children and young adults. The primary purpose of the foundation is to raise funds for the education of our youth with respect to cancer.
A survivor of cancer himself, Mr. O’Brien wanted to form a charitable foundation that would provide educational materials to a younger generation, giving them a better understanding of the causes and treatments of the various forms of this disease. Through this education process, it is Mr. O’Brien’s goal to provide our youth with a positive influence for avoiding the risks attributed to certain forms of this disease. The materials provided will stress the importance of preventative actions and the methods for combating this disease.
“As a cancer survivor, I know that cancer can be beaten, but one of the keys to defeating cancer is early detection”, said Kurt O’Brien. “As a child growing up, I was not educated on the importance of early detection of cancer or cancer symptoms. Our goal at the KOBF is to change the perception of our youth about cancer awareness through offering informative educational materials”, said Mr. O’Brien.
With today’s technology and communication mediums, you can be educated and influenced in so many ways. Making sure they are aware of how important their health is and that they have a responsibility in educating themselves about preventable diseases is of the utmost importance. The KOBF is designed specifically for them to be better prepared to become health conscious adults.
